Never did I envisage dear readers that my shopping list would stray so far beyond bread, milk and Canesten cream to the mysterious world of the mannequin merkin. Our beloved Ophelia was designed downstairs with a 'buff no-fluff muff' yet the eagle-eyed amongst us (and you know who you are Mr C!) have noted that the trends are turning and the bush is back. For those of you who have no idea what I'm wittering on about (and this surely does not include you Sally S-having seemingly got a merkin masterclass under , and not presumably below, your belt) the merkin is a toupee for the tinkleflower (seriously! I have spent time looking these up!) a wig for the womans cave of wonder(!!) or, if you prefer, a hairpiece for the hoo-haa! Jeez this feels beyond ridiculous! It gets no better when I reveal to you that my trawling efforts on ebay for one led me to a dishrag-the wonderful Dodo Juice Mint Merkin Waffle Weave Microfibre Window Cloth! Perhaps we can make do with one of these instead! Ever the practical person, I'm thinking my windows will shine better with this purchasing choice. For now Ophelia will remain rugless but watch this space if you dare ladies and gentleman...the influence of American Apparels latest window of controversy (its only hair!!!!) may yet reach this region! No-one even mentioned that they were wearing glasses!
Mannequins have not stayed out of the news for long recently with the good, the bad and the ugly yet all throughout Ophelia has remained quiet and fairly miserable in the corner. January is not her best month and the recurrent risk of her standing too close to the fires we are having to try and heat this blasted ice box of a home do not add to her enjoyment. Perhaps she fears that we may run out of wood...
In an effort to cheer her up we have taken it upon ourselves to document some of the 'friends' Ophelia shares her space with. Upon doing so it quickly became clear that we host a house of fallen women so to speak! This has indeed put half a smile on her face for she is practically the only inhabitant left standing. Below are some photographs to introduce you to some of our house guests. Who lives in your house? Do tell!
(apologies for the lack of organisation of these photos in to a lovely easy viewing gallery but thats what comes from editing on an iphone and pc at the same time! Multi-talented!)
In other news Thing One is looking forward to chorizo at dawn when our exchange student from Spanish lands comes to stay. Thing Two is currently obsessing over tortoise owning ambitions, dangerous dogs and his new crombie coat that already has Tom Baker plans!?!?
Keep well and warm Phelie Followers, until next time.x
