Motherhood is taking its toll...
It is indeed a sorry state when a mannequin with the biggest wardrobe in the world cannot even find a pair of pants to wear. What has become of life here at the family ramblings household? Currently I am eating a decidedly soggy Spanishesque omlette, Thing 1 is proper grieving over the loss of her sharpie pens, Thing 2 is stuck on a gangnam loop, Odette is stuck in a cupboard and Skitz the cat is chasing her tail yet again (lies all lies because that was 2 days ago now! Sharpie pens found!)...to summerise, all is not well. The usual run of family/Ophelia-related happenings that keep us all buoyant and writing blogs seems to have faltered. Its not that nothing weird is happening...its just that I can't seem to find the words to write about it! It looks to me that we have so much regular randomness that it now appears ordinary and not particularly worthy of note. It seems dear readers that we have entered a period of calm-a quietly contented settled existence where waking up to a pure white pheasant marauding about the garden now seems infact perfectly normal. As does taking a horse to work and coming home with a unicorn. As is finding a neighbours cat wedged behind your washing machine and their bra in your porch...this is like depression for blogs! Perhaps dear readers one life can only deal with so much tinsel and glitter and I am currently getting mine in other places :0) To get the words to spring I need hours of quiet mulling and life has been particularly full of late in a great way! Who knows the real reason for this lull in Ophelia-related magic but fingers crossed that soon it returns and she is back out there with bells (and pants) on and abnormality reigns once again!
In other news Skitz the new cat who is perfectly named seems to be taking to the idea of hunting in a particularly slow and unbothered fashion! She is happy to chase her tail as you know but beyond that she really makes little effort-sunbathing right next to two blackbirds and letting the neighbourhood cats wander about her supposed territory. To be fair she does make the odd attempt at fly catching but to say Mr Miyagi and his chopsticks find it easier and are more rewarded is an understatement! I am building myself up to the emotional and technically challenging task of putting her picture in the photo of us all at the top of the page-she is a lovely looking cat but not in the least photogenic and always seems to come out looking like she won Stroppy Cat of the Year 2013. Still, she's a beaut and I have high hopes thats he will provide much blog material even if Ophelia doesn't!
Well I am definitely utilising the 'rambling' bit of the blog name here today folks so I will leave with the thought that sometimes when the words can't be found the photos tell it all! Enjoy!
