Pinny on, ready for moussaka making!
Today ladles and jellyspoons and infact for the last few weeks, I have been scouring the nation for Christmas artefacts of a truly tasteless nature-ebay, charity shops, pound shops, jumble sales...hideous heaven! My purchases will all contribute to creating that perfect and awkward bad taste Christmas I dream of with Ophelia mucking in to add a certain je ne sais quoi to proceedings-who knows what her contribution will be but you can be sure it will be documented here! Its the great unknown!
I have decided that there is bad taste and bad taste...I am trying to avoid a crude Christmas or revolting or plain ugly things that have no redeeming features and recently I have unfortunately had to make the decision that shell suits are no longer appropriate because they are too bad taste in the current climate. But then again I don't want just kitsch. Admittedly I have not been able to resist some cute yet ugly additions such as the flocked 1960's red bambi with fur mohawk I bought for 50p today. Some items are so ghastly they will probably only hang around for this year but I can see that others are going to make it in to my permanent Christmas collection :o) I am also most excitedly thinking about my awkward Christmas family photo! Below there is a link to a website showing some right clangers and I cannot wait to join them, all be it a little staged! I hope you are all beginning to feel a little Christmassy. Even Ophelia is gearing up!
Other random news from the ramblings household is that Thing 2 has finally (I say with fingers firmly crossed!) passed through the flashdance/fame phase and has started on the 'I want to look exactly like the man on the box of scottish porridge oats' phase. This coincided with the arrival of the kilt that fits! Hair has been flattened down, the white t-shirt has had the sleeves rolled up to resemble a vest top, the inflight socks (don't even ask! major error as white not red) have been pulled up firmly and currently (and thankfully) we are using a pair of socks as a shot put. All we are missing are the highlands!
Before I go (and I really have embraced that 'rambling' title today) let me blow your mind with this weird yet wonderful jigsaw scenario that delighted us this week...bought a puzzle in a charity shop 3 months ago for Thing 2-missing one piece. Bought another puzzle in same charity shop for Thing 2 a few days ago-missing piece of first puzzle was in second puzzle box! Fabulous!
Plus we had a fox in the garden this week. Plus I have just bought loads of Snowballs and Cherry B's. Plus I have made an amazing moussaka-life is gooooooooooooooooood!!
