All is tickety boo here in this fancy dress obsessed family household...been busy singing loudly in quiet places, practicing flashdance and speaking only in a Leeds accent before 7am. Its quite fun really! More wig purchasing has taken place and we are getting in serious hair trouble here-Ophelia and her amazing technicoloured dream carpet of wigs-the floor is their default home if not on a head! As well as storage we are in need of a wig inventory I think-perhaps we could run a wig library? Rentarug? Love it!! I am also thinking of getting Ophee some false eyelashes...so many to choose from and some for every occasion! I really have to stop spending :o(
This weeks bad taste Christmas purchases include a pair of fluffy red antlers with bells on, a hideous pig ornament for a pressie and some knackered crackers! Missed out on some freak chic choir boys on Ebay-gutted but did manage to secure some truly awful Christmas leggings for Ophee! You'll just have to wait and see!! In the meantime let my beloved Son, Thing2, make you smile with a rather mexican movember contribution! Hasta la vista baby!x Well hello! This is probably the most exciting post I have done and I am squealing with desperation...I can hardly type quick enough! Today Ophelia was contacted (via Facebook) by the curator at Ely Museum, her home of old. It was my belief that Ophelia used to be a farmers wife in one of their displays but today I have been enlightened...she was infact a land girl!! Rather fantastically Elie the curator had found a photograph of Ophee in action ( or rather not!)-see above!!!!! I can't believe how beautiful she looks-so feminine! Her lips were obviously in better shape then and she looks in good colour and less severe somehow. The personality she exudes seems so different-perhaps shyer and more modest. Its as if, over the years, she has gone from being in an exhibition to being an exhibitionist, from working hard to playing hard, from rosebud cheeked Keira Knightley to wild and slightly wicked Grace Jones! (apart form when she is being Deidre Barlow or Brian May of course!) or perhaps from Beyonce to Sasha Fierce! I am so delighted to have a copy of this photo-huge thanks to Elie at Ely Museum-go and give them a visit-who knows who you might find! Hopefully not Ophelias rather ropey policeman friend...I think we need to find her someone somewhat better than that...wonder what he is up to these days? Someone did suggest I put Ophelia on a dating website just to see the response...thats another post perhaps! Meanwhile have a little game of spot the difference to keep yourself amused until we meet again :O) Well ,we are getting there slowly here in the family rambling household but it sure seems quiet without our Celekins (despite the fact that in reality she rarely graced us with her beautiful presence and spent much of her time shrew catching or living it up with the locals). Nothing can replace her. Suddenly cats or pictures of cats or books about cats seem everywhere. Thing 1 has grafitti'd every windowsill with 'Celly used to sit here' and Thing 2 has put cat stickers in all her usual hidey holes...its strangely comforting. She was a lovely unexpected friend at the end of the day or on a quiet Sunday. The kids seem to be well in recovery-Thing 2 is currently playing 'illegal dog fighting' and setting up an arena for his testosterone-injected cuddlies! Life goes on I guess... Anyway I thought it time to bring delight to your eyes and introduce you to some of Ophelia's friends in funny places-mainly seaside resorts! Perhaps that should be funny friends...they are the type that lift the spirits and make the eyes smile. Enjoy! No doubt there will be more to follow...
Very sad to report that as I was typing the last blog entry and attaching a photo of beautiful Celly our black cat and pumpkin jack, taken only minutes before, a knock on the door brought us terrible news-that she had been hit by a car and nothing could be done. She was the perfect cat for us-a bit of a random rag bag, liking garlic and sitting on top of the yurt. We will miss her dreadfully and can't quite believe this has happened. Farewell funny lady...you were one in a million.x
Happy Halloween Folks! The skies are starting to darken, the wind is starting to howl and I am about to embark on making a Halloween feast including mummified dogs and oreo graveyards! Thing 1 is preparing her outfit, Thing 2 is drawing a face on every satsuma in the house and Ophelia is resignedly allowing us to make her look her worst...not an easy thing for one so beautiful! We are not sure what character she is for tonight...maybe red riding hood gone wrong, prom queen massacre...? Any ideas? Please let us know! Celestina the cat is of course perfectly dressed for Halloween all year round and had no problem posing with Jack for this gorgeous photo below. Wishing you all a fabulously frightening and funny Halloween...we'll be back! Mwahhaahaahaahaa...
Hello folks, far and wide...We need your help!! We are on a mission to send Ophelias scream into space! Random I know but thats my life :o) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE click the link below to vote for Ophelia and family to be one of the top ten chosen screams to be sent on an android mobile in to orbit to help Cambridge University discover if 'in space no-one hears you scream' is true or not! Its far out fun ladies and gents but we need a whole load of votes to get us there. You don't have to give any personal information at all-its just a case of clicking a button and deciphering and typing one of those tricky words to make sure you are human. A million thanks in advance of your support on this crazy venture and to those who have already given theirs.
http://www.screaminspace.com/video/gJzQyZZe5Z0 Drab is Fab 2012 Ophelia seems to be having a bit of a dull time of it lately, dressed in all manner of sensible clothing, looking very mumsy (well, not like this mum I guess) and homely (but again, not this home)...She's suburban sensational! It is bringing the atmosphere down-this is not what she is meant to be and it feels like living inside a retro freemans catalogue. Desperate as I am to de-frump her (does that sound iffy?) I have to have patience because just around the corner is one wacky wild and wicked Halloween ensemble that will freak the village (maybe) and bring Phelies dark side to life! Photos to follow of course but for now you will have to embrace the blouse and cardi combo. Apologies for the lack of colour in this shot-Thing 1 has switched the camera to black and white and I don't have enough enthusiasm to work out how to switch it back! Adds to the dreariness I think! Enjoy.x
Good evenin' all! This weekend just gone saw us blogites travel to Bath to take part in a Christmas cake making extravaganza! I kid you not, there were 17 cakes to worship at the end of it all and ours will undoubtedly be decorated in the most kitsch way you can possibly imagine...photos will follow nearer Chrimble.
Poor old Phelie of course was too fraj to make the journey but was forever in our thoughts, never more so than when we rediscovered the marvellous Jack and Dannys vintage and ex-theatrical costume shop at the top of our beloved Walcot St...Thing 1 rather rapidly discovered a huge hopper ot hairpieces and after a long rummage in the rugtank rejecting those that looked like squashed rats we found 2 perfect new looks for Ophelia and of course much hilarity was had from that moment on. Think Cher 1 and Cher 2 (mahoosive head of unruly curls a la Heart of Stone LP and more demure black sleek long bob of the egyptian days with Sonny). Then of course theres the Brian May potential...we are loving messing about with the new wiggage! Check out the wigs below and take a look at a new shot under the characterdays page! Oooh we do love a bit of hairlarity! Tara for now! Just discovered this fascinating account of the historic case of 'Cynthia' the celebrity mannequin of the 1930's. Perhaps its time for a re-run starring none other than our beloved Phelie! Happy reading!
http://life.time.com/curiosities/cynthia-world-famous-mannequin/#17 I do like to think we maintain Ophelias dignity at a higher level than poor ol' Cynths! Also Phelie is now a facebook phenomenon! You can friend her...Ophelia Days...go on-when it all breaks out and goes viral you'll wanna be by her side!x |
